Get to know me
When not typing code, or reading up on the latest cutting edge technologies in Web Design, you will find me scuba diving in some tropical destination around the globe. While scuba diving I became an amateur underwater photographer. As an ex–President of The Scuba Sports Club of Westchester, I have become active in local beach clean ups, and am involved in ocean preservation.
My latest community service projects come as a member and director in the Rotary Club of Peekskill.

What it takes to get you to the top of Search Engine Results Pages
HTML5 and CSS3 Coded Websites
HTML5 is quickly becoming the new standard of markup language for building websites. With all the cutting–edge features it provides, developers are able to create apps and websites with better features, speed, and performance. HTML5 applications enable users access across a wide array of devices. Multimedia is now able to play using modern browsers without the use of plugins—(e.g. Flash).
CSS3 now gives developers the tools to style one website for all sizes of displays by using media queries. There´s no need for multiple versions of a website, that may be seen as duplicate content. Some of the new tools available are transitions, transforms, importing custom fonts, animations, gradients, and multiple backgrounds. All of which translates into reduced development costs because there is less need to work in PhotoShop.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Before hiring an agency to perform SEO be sure to check their credentials. Much has changed within the past two year in regards to optimizing your website for search engines. Google´s two most recent algorithm changes, Panda and Penguin, have leveled the playing field for small businesses with a limited budget for their online marketing strategy. Panda has targeted websites that provided poor user experiences, and Penguin took aim at backlinks from unrelated websites. The focus now is on creating content that is knowledgeable and useful to the user.
SEO basics include:
- Review site content and structure
- Technical advice on website development, (e.g. hosting, redirects, error pages)
- Content development
- Strategically align business goals to website
- Keyword research
- SEO content training
- Expertise in local geographies
Website Analytics
Web analytics is the collection and measurement of Internet traffic data and the practice of creating custom reports for the purpose of understanding and optimizing web properties. By creating Goals and Events in HTML code, in–depth reporting may be performed on the paths a user may take before conversions or abandonment.
Google and Bing both offer free analytics tools that help to estimate how traffic to a website changes after the launch of a new advertising campaign. It helps gauge traffic and trends which are useful for marketing research. Web analytics not only provides information about the number of visitors or page views, but also important metrics for:
- Frequency and Recency of visitors
- Engagement: how much time a user spends on the site
- Location: drilled down to Continent, Sub Continent, Country, City
- Browser and OS
- Mobile: whether a user used tablet or smart phone
- Custom User Defined Variables
